Challenge
The brand is a new long-term cultural and commercial program to enhance the perception of south Essex as a great place to “live, work and do business” in.
We were charged with the role of taking an existing brand (developed by another agency) which simply included the identity design. There were no brand guidelines, graphic designs or any design style we needed to adhere to. Our challenge was to get inside the heads of the original designers and work up a set of brand guidelines which followed not only the design style but the entire purpose and essence of the brand.
Solution
First of all we developed brand guidelines which included writing not only the design style but also the terminology , language and “soul” of the brand. From this we developed a series of promotional postcards for the launch of the brand at the Thames Gateway Forum, an introductory website, motion graphics video piece highlighting photography from the region and key supporters of the program, a myspace presence, an online brand centre as well as an online form for partner applications.
Results
This is a long term program aimed at the revitalization of a region over a 20 year period so the final results won’t be in for quite some time ! Initial feedback is very positive to the image of the brand and its long term goals. The initial brand has evolved in design style from its initial inception and has been designed to enable a long term evolution without sticking to a style that will box the brand in over time.
The Promotional Video
The Launch Event Video
We filmed and edited this video piece to promote the launch of the brand at an event organised by agencyeast (agencyeast.co.uk) which included the creation of the animated motion graphics piece.
